Maine Cruise July 31, 2024 to August 14, 2024



Welcome to the 2024 Maine Cruise!

We’re going to follow Maynard Gray’s council to “start off slow and then ease up” and savor every day. 
We have it on good authority that these days do not come off our allotted score. 
Our plan is to dovetail with the Maine Train and begin at the Chebeague Island Inn in Casco Bay.
From there we’ll head east with stops in Muscongus Bay, Penobscot Bay and points east. 
The easternmost destination is Southwest Harbor. 
From there we’ll wend our way westward to end up in Boothbay Harbor to meet up with the start of the Nova Scotia Cruise.


This year’s cruise has some new challenges because of the damaging storms and high water. We’re keeping a close eye on the availability of shoreside resources and we’ll keep you posted on any necessary changes to the itinerary.


We have some fun activities planned including some celestial navigation instruction, pursuit racing, a music festival, shoreside social activities and off-the path tours of Maine treasures.

●      Thursday, August 1: Snow Island, Quahog Bay

●      Friday, August 2: Lobster Cove, Linekin Bay

●      Saturday, August 3: Greenland Cove/Hog Island (Audubon Camp))

●      Sunday, August 4: Rockland, (Reprovision, refuel)

●      Monday, August 5: Seal Bay, Vinalhaven

●      Tuesday, August 6: Burnt Coat Harbor, Swan’s Island (Sweet Chariot Music Festival, Quarry, lighthouse)

●      Wednesday, August 7: Southwest Harbor (Group dinner ashore, reprovision, refuel)

●      Thursday, August 8: Southwest Harbor

●      Friday, August 9: Wooden Boat, Center Harbor

●      Saturday, August 10: Holbrook Island

●      Sunday, August 11: Belfast

●      Monday, August 12:Warren Island (Story Hour/Liar’s club)

●      Tuesday, August 13: Long Cove/Tenants Harbor

●      Wednesday, August 14: Boothbay Harbor (closing dinner, Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club)


Cruise Notes:

·        We will rely on a Text Group in addition to monitoring VHF 72

·        Morning roll call will be at 8:30 am, VHF 72:
