Folding bikes are very practical for the cruising sailboat. We have been carrying a pair of folding bicycles with us for 7 years and find they greatly enhance our ability so see the many seaside communities we visit, was well as making resupply more efficient, even possible. With panniers and a bit of rope, you can fetch groceries, beverages, ice and even propane!

Everyone has an opinion. I can only give you my experience from cruising Maine for fifteen years. 300’ of chain is really heavy! I don’t want that much weight in my bow. The whole point of chain is to keep the anchor along the bottom, not pulling upward should a squall pass by. We have a 1980’s 40’ sailboat of 18,000 lbs. and have found our spade anchor ....
